Today Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada's First Congressional District released the following statement announcing passage of H.R. 2455, the Nevada Native Nations Lands Act.
"This legislation enables economic development and self-determination for tribes across the State of Nevada," said Titus. "I am proud to cosponsor this legislation with my colleague from northern Nevada, Congressman Amodei. Our delegation has a history of working together to enhance opportunities for economic development and to conserve the sensitive lands that make Nevada a beautiful place to live and visit. I look forward to continuing this tradition in the next Congress, as we consider future public lands bills impacting Nevada."
The Nevada Native Nations Lands Act includes a number of federal land conveyances to native tribes across the State of Nevada. This legislation is the result of consultation with tribal governments and federal, state, and local officials to further economic development opportunities across the state. A companion bill was introduced by Senators Reid and Heller earlier this year.
