Ross Statement on Increased Insurance Costs in Polk and Hillsborough County

Press Release

Date: Nov. 18, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Dennis A. Ross (R-FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip, and a member of the Committee on Financial Services today released the following statement.

"Last Friday, the Obama Administration released the estimated costs of health care policies for 2015 under Obamacare, the un-Affordable Care Act. Premium costs have continued to rise since the law was implemented and Floridians are paying for it. In our congressional district, costs will have increased an average of 17.05%. President Obama knew millions of Americans would not be able to afford his health insurance, as did the controversial professor who helped engineer this flawed law.

We must reform the health care system to put patients and doctors in control of health care decisions, not Washington bureaucrats."

Florida's 15th District premium increases are as follows:

Polk County: +14.9%

Hillsborough County: +19.2%

These numbers come from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and can be found on the New York Times website.
