Hoyer Visits North Point High School Manufacturing Class, Highlights the Importance of Education and Skills Training

Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited students in a manufacturing class at North Point High School in Waldorf to highlight the importance of training a 21st century workforce so that businesses can find skilled workers to meet their needs, and put students on a path to success. During his visit, Congressman Hoyer discussed his Make It In America jobs plan he is leading in Congress.

"Today, I visited North Point High School to speak with students who are interested in helping to lead America's manufacturing renaissance to make our economy stronger and advance their own careers toward success," said Congressman Hoyer. Advanced, high-tech manufacturing is growing, and if America is going to see its economy grow in the 21st century, we need to invest in efforts to attract advanced manufacturing to our communities. We ought to ensure that those we train in high-demand skills will have an opportunity to find good jobs and help grow our economy."

"In Congress, I'm leading an effort called "Make It In America' to invest in education and skills training, along with other initiatives to make manufacturing companies want to invest and hire here in Maryland," continued Congressman Hoyer. "Businesses in Charles County and across America can only remain competitive when they have the trained workers they need, which is why it's essential that we focus on expanding access to education and skills training. I'm going to continue to push for the passage of bills in the Make It In America agenda. Our students are the future of our economy and of our country, and Congress owes it to them to make sure they can succeed."
