Location: Meriden, CT

Today, at a ceremony at the Meriden Senior Center, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM) endorsed Rep. Elizabeth Esty for reelection in the 5th Congressional District. NCPSSM also presented Esty with boxing gloves in honor of her work fighting for seniors.

"The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, on behalf of its millions of members and supporters, enthusiastically endorses Rep. Elizabeth Esty's candidacy for re-election to the United States House of Representatives," said Max Richtman, President/CEO, NCPSSM-PAC Board of Directors. "Our nation needs her continued leadership, vision and determination to fight for working families and older Americans. Rep. Esty earned the endorsement of the National Committee because she understands and supports the critical roles that Social Security and Medicare play in the retirement and health security of our nation's older citizens and their families. She is well-prepared to serve the needs of seniors and their families and will continue to make the preservation of Social Security and Medicare a priority in office."

"I'm honored to receive the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare," said Rep. Elizabeth Esty. "Connecticut seniors paid into Social Security and earned it after lifetimes of hard work. They deserve to know that Social Security will be there for their retirement security and for their children and grandchildren's future. Unlike my opponent Mark Greenberg who wants to privatize Social Security, raise the retirement age, and voucherize Medicare, I'll continue to stand up against any attempts to cut or dismantle these lifeline programs."
