Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement regarding the announcement that Attorney General Eric Holder will be resigning from the Department of Justice (DOJ) once a replacement is nominated and confirmed:
"I thank Attorney General Eric Holder for his strong leadership at the Department of Justice. He played a truly historic role at the DOJ. He fought to protect Americans' right to vote by pushing back against discriminatory voter ID laws; he refused to defend DOMA in court because all Americans should have the right to marry who they love; he has been a passionate advocate for reducing jail time for non-violent drug offenders; he worked to eliminate racial profiling tactics from law enforcement agencies. Despite the significant progress he made, we still have a long way to go to ensure every American's civil rights are protected under the law. I look forward to working with his replacement to further criminal justice reform and strengthen civil rights."
