Remembering 9/11

Statement

Date: Oct. 11, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

On the anniversary on the September 11th terrorist attacks on American soil in 2001, and overseas at the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya in 2012, Congressman Westmoreland has issued the following statement:

"Today is a solemn day in our nation's history: It's the day we lost almost 3,000 of our loved ones, including the very brave first responders, in New York, and the four we lost in Libya," stated Westmoreland. "It is a grave reminder of how precious life is, and that preventing attacks such as these from happening again should always remain our nation's top priority.

"When we face attacks and tragic events such as these, we are reminded how united we are as a nation. We are Americans, and that means we will come back stronger and we will always prevail over evil. Joan and I send our condolences to the all family and friends of the Americans who lost their loved ones on September 11th. Our nation still grieves with them today and they will never be forgotten."

Congressman Westmoreland is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, as well as a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi.
