Proposes Real Solutions to Safety Concerns

Congressman Keith Ellison purported to show concern for Minnesota residents at a Wednesday night forum for freight rail. On the minds of many is the dramatic increase of oil containing rail cars that pass through Minneapolis each day. Keith Ellison has stood firmly against the only practical solution to this legitimate safety concern.

"While rail is a safe way to transport oil, there have been several incidents in recent memory that give residents cause for concern." said Doug Daggett. "This is especially true because of the sheer volume of oil that passes through the district on a daily basis. My opponent has consistently opposed the safest and most cost effective way to transport oil: pipelines. While I admire the goal of reducing the use of petroleum over time, the fact is that our economy relies on fossil fuels. By standing against pipelines like the Sandpiper line from North Dakota, Keith Ellison apparently thinks that scoring political points with far-left lobbyists is more important than the safety of his constituents.

Doug Daggett is the Republican endorsed candidate for Congress in Minnesota's Fifth Congressional District. He is challenging incumbent U.S. Representative Keith Ellison (DFL-Minneapolis).
