Senator Tim Scott Strongly Supports South Carolina's Small Businesses

U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), a former small business owner in North Charleston, has been named a "Guardian of Small Business" by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation's leading small business association. Scott, a member of the Senate Small Business Committee, also joined Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) in introducing a resolution (S. Res. 548) designating November 29 as "Small Business Saturday."

"I am honored to be named a "Guardian of Small Business,' as our nation's small business owners and their hardworking employees are the backbone of our economy," Scott said. "I will continue working to ensure they have the opportunity to not only succeed, but expand and grow as well, and I hope folks across South Carolina will join me in celebrating our small businesses on November 29th as part of Small Business Saturday."

NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner praised Senator Scott, saying, "Small-business owners are very politically active -- paying close attention to how their lawmakers vote on issues and stand by those who stand for them. The record shows that Sen. Scott is a true champion of small business, supporting key small-business votes in the 113th Congress."

S. Res 548 was passed unanimously by the U.S. Senate. The legislation supports efforts to encourage consumers to shop locally and to increase awareness of the value of locally owned small businesses and the impact of locally owned small businesses on the economy of the United States.
