Jones Statement on One-Year Anniversary of Obamacare Rollout

Statement

Date: Oct. 1, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) issued the following statement marking the one-year anniversary of the Obamacare rollout:

"Last October, the Obamacare exchanges opened for business to disastrous results," said Congressman Jones. "Americans in Eastern North Carolina and around the country have lost their jobs, been kicked off of their health care plans, and the cost of this government-run health care program continues to rise. Earlier this year, the Congressional Budget Office stated that the agency could no longer assess the overall fiscal impact of Obamacare because the Obama administration continually delays and alters parts of this expansive law and not others. Obamacare will continue to choke the American job market and drive up the cost of insurance while dialing back the quality of care. This law does not enable freedom, it stifles it. That is why I voted against Obamacare each time it was considered in the House and why I have cosponsored every bill aimed at repealing or defunding the law. I will continue to do everything I can to end this unconstitutional government takeover of our healthcare system."
