U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.) Thursday announced over $2.2 million in Federal funding to increase access to quality health care services for southern West Virginians.
"The foundation of a bright future rests on the good health and well being of our children and families. Community health centers provide critical access to services for thousands of southern West Virginians, and for many, especially in our most rural areas, they are the only door to comprehensive health care for the local community," said Rahall. "This funding will help ensure that quality care is available to families when it is needed most."
Nine Federally-Qualified Health Centers in southern West Virginia will receive FY 2014 Health Center Cluster Grants:
Bluestone Health Association, Princeton, $228,330
Camden-On-Gauley Medical Center, Camden on Gauley, $203,522
Community Health Systems, Inc., Beckley, $269,640
Lincoln County Primary Care Center, Hamlin, $238,178
New River Health Association, Inc., Scarbro, $253,716
Rainelle Medical Center, Inc., Rainelle, $204,984
Tug River Health Association, Inc., Gary, $217,029
Valley Health Systems, Inc., Huntington, $406,354
Williamson Health and Wellness Center, Williamson, $187,000
The awards announced today were made available through the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration to enable health centers to increase access to comprehensive primary health care services by hiring new staff including new health care providers, staying open for longer hours, and expanding the care they provide to include new services such as oral health, behavioral health, pharmacy, and vision services.
