Pearce Radio Ad Highlights His Work to Ensure Proper Care for New Mexico's Veterans

Press Release

Date: Sept. 16, 2014

Today, Congressman Steve Pearce released a radio ad titled "Same." In the ad, Pearce highlights the work he has done to ensure New Mexico's veterans receive the care that they earned.

Congressman Pearce said, "I have long fought to bring the parties together on this issue and I am proud to say that because the parties worked together this year, veterans in New Mexico will finally see changes in the way the VA operates. Veterans who wait too long and drive too far for appointments will finally get to see local doctors."

On July 30th, the House passed H.R. 3230, The Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014. On August 7th, the President signed the bill into law with important provisions originating from the House passed bill. The law ensures that veterans get the care they deserve by taking veterans off of waiting lists and empowering the VA secretary to hold failing executives accountable. The law also includes one provision that Congressman Pearce has long championed, that veterans are able to get care at local hospitals so that they do not have to travel lengthy distances to be seen by doctors.

Pearce continued, "I will continue to fight to ensure the Veterans Administration is held accountable and that the new law is implemented successfully by working with private hospitals, to ensure that our veterans are taken care of. As a veteran myself I understand the physical and emotional sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. We must not fail those who served our country."

The radio ad is running on stations across the district.
