U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced more than $300,000 in federal funding to the City of Bismarck to provide affordable housing, create suitable living environments, and expand economic opportunities, partially for low- and moderate-income North Dakotans.
The funds, made available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, are given to communities in North Dakota to address community development needs unique to that area.
"This type of federal funding has a long history of providing needed investments in our communities," said Heitkamp. "It can help provide affordable housing to folks who need a little extra help to find a place to call home and create jobs so families can continue to put food on the table. While our economy and state continue to grow, it's important that we expand our services to help the most vulnerable folks in our communities succeed. I'm committed to making sure no North Dakotan gets left behind."
