Issues: Transportation

Roy Cho, candidate for Congress in the 5th District, has been endorsed by the TWU New Jersey State Conference.

The union represents workers in mass transit, airports, railroads, and more. President John Menshon said the endorsement was based on Cho's strong support for upgrading New Jersey's mass transit and transportation systems.

"To move New Jersey forward we need to keep New Jersey moving, and Roy Cho understands how critical investing in our mass transit and transportation infrastructure is to our economic future," the TWU New Jersey State Conference said in making its endorsement. "Not only will a strong transit system strengthen our region and alleviate traffic, it will create and protect good jobs that grow our middle class and allow businesses to thrive. Sadly, Scott Garrett doesn't get that connection. Thankfully, Roy Cho does. We need his advocacy in Washington on behalf of northern New Jersey."

"I am grateful to the TWU New Jersey State Conference for their support, and share their commitment to a strong, vibrant transportation system that benefits commuters, families, workers, and businesses," said Cho. "The longer we delay in building a world-class transportation network, the longer we will sit in traffic, the longer goods can't leave our ports, and the more damage we do to our state's and region's economic competitiveness. Scott Garrett doesn't advocate for the commuter stuck in traffic or the businessman who needs to get his goods to market. I will."

Cho also was praised for his support for issues important to working families, including raising the federal minimum wage and strengthening wage protections and equal-pay laws.

The TWU New Jersey State Conference adds to Cho's list of endorsements from New Jersey's labor community, which includes support from the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, the Bergen County Central Labor Council, the Passaic County Central Labor Council, AFT-NJ, Health Professionals & Allied Employees (HPAE), and two-dozen other building, construction and craft trades locals from throughout northern New Jersey.
