Reid Statement On September Employment Report

Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement today on the September employment report. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy added 248,000 jobs in September, while the unemployment rate dropped below 6 percent.

"Today's report shows that our nation's economy continues to improve. But Congress can still do more to help struggling American families and those Americans out of work through no fault of their own.

"Republicans in Congress have stopped at nothing to obstruct legislation giving a fair shot to middle class families in Nevada and throughout the country. It is my hope that when the Congress returns, Senate Republicans will join Democrats to strengthen the middle class, provide a boost for students and small businesses and ensure equal pay for equal work for women in America. The American people deserve more from Republicans in Congress than political stunts and government shutdowns."
