Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV a grant for $700,845. This grant will cover 100% of the costs for an expansion of the cemetery and the funds will be used to construct roads, columbaria, landscaping, and necessary supporting infrastructure. In total, the expansion will develop approximately 3 acres for the cemetery.

"I thank Secretary McDonald and the Department of Veterans Affairs for this important grant," said Reid. "The Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is the only one of its kind for over 100 miles. Expanding and improving this cemetery is necessary in order to allow it to continue to be a fitting final resting place for Nevada's veterans and a solemn and comfortable place for families to remember their loved ones."
