Solemn Anniversary

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2014

As today draws to a close, I hope everyone has taken a moment to reflect on the significance of this day.

Thirteen years ago, our nation suffered a cowardly attack meant to target civilians and undermine the values our nation holds dear. Thirteen years later, we still mourn the loss of those killed on September 11, 2001. And we mourn the loss of all those who gave their lives in the conflicts that followed.

But we remain unbroken in spirit, unbowed in resolve, and more committed than ever to the values that underpin our democracy and make us a beacon of freedom and hope for the world.
