Jeanne is a champion for equal opportunity for all Americans.

She voted to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" so LGBT service members can serve openly and cosponsored a bill to repeal DOMA to ensure same sex couples are treated equally under federal law. She authored the Charlie Morgan Act, which would make benefits available to veterans and their spouses regardless of sexual orientation. She is cosponsoring the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which passed the Senate, so that no one is hired or fired based on the sexual orientation or gender identity.
