Today, Cheri Bustos (IL-17), a member of the House Agriculture Committee, received the endorsement of the Illinois Farm Bureau and the Friend of Agriculture Award for her strong support of Illinois farmers and producers. Bustos is the only Member from the Illinois Congressional Delegation with a 100% voting record with the Illinois Farm Bureau.
"I'm honored to receive the support of the Illinois Farm Bureau, an organization that represents thousands of family farmers and producers across our great state," said Cheri Bustos. "As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, and as the only Member of the Illinois Congressional Delegation with a perfect Illinois Farm Bureau voting record, I am committed to fighting every day for our farmers and the agricultural economy of Northwestern and Central Illinois."
"Representative Bustos helped us cross off a couple of major Farm Bureau priorities on our legislative to-do list," said Steve Fricke, president, Stephenson County Farm Bureau and chair, 17th District ACTIVATOR Trustee committee. "Along the way, she achieved what no other member of the Illinois delegation achieved -- a perfect Illinois Farm Bureau voting record in the 113th Congress."
The Illinois Agricultural Association ACTIVATOR, the Farm Bureau's political arm, cited Bustos' leadership on the Farm Bill, water infrastructure and transportation and support for renewable fuels, among other issues, as well as her bipartisan approach and accessibility to her constituents as the reasons for their endorsement.
