Newsletter: The Hill Report: Week of August 4 - 8, 2014

Statement

Date: Aug. 8, 2014

This week marked the beginning of a month-long recess in the House of Representatives, which means that I will be able to spend August back home meeting with constituents in the 32nd District. I look forward to visiting local businesses and talking with North Texans about the issues that are most important to them.

Town Hall Meeting
Next Wednesday, August 13th, I will be holding a Town Hall Meeting at 7:00 pm at the Fellowship Bible Church of Dallas. I am looking forward to updating North Texans on my efforts to secure our border, bolster our economy, create more jobs, and hold the Obama Administration accountable. Town hall meetings are always a wonderful way for me to engage in robust conversations with my constituents and listen to their thoughts on the important issues facing our community and our nation. If you would like to attend the meeting, please RSVP here.

Congressional Collegiate Internship Program
This week was the last week of my summer internship program for college students. I was delighted to have 36 interns in my Washington, D.C. office over the course of the summer. I appreciated their hard work and dedication as they assisted my staff, led tours of the US Capitol for constituents, and attended House and Senate Committee hearings. These extremely bright and motivated students were an asset to my team and I am very grateful for all of their hard work.

If you or someone that you know is interested in participating in next year's summer internship program, please contact my Intern Coordinator, Genevieve Bresnahan, or visit my website for more information.
