During their first joint-campaign press conference of the 2014 Senate campaign, Oregon's senior Sen. Ron Wyden endorsed Sen. Merkley this morning, calling Jeff "a passionate and effective fighter for Oregon's middle-class families."

"Jeff Merkley is a passionate fighter for Oregon's middle class families and I am proud to support his reelection," Sen. Wyden said. "Jeff fights for Oregon jobs. When China was dumping heavily subsidized solar panels, cheating Oregon products and jobs, we took action, and we were able to secure a counter action from the Commerce Department that saved jobs at solar facilities here in Oregon like Solar World. Just last month we fought together for the Bring Jobs Home Act that would end a tax break for companies that ship jobs overseas, and provide a tax credit for companies that seek to bring jobs back home. That is the kind of common sense efforts we are engaging in to fight for Oregon's living-wage jobs."

Sen. Wyden added, "We as Oregonians need him in the Senate to continue our fight for the middle class. We already have plenty in Washington fighting for the special interests. But Jeff fights for us."

"As your U.S. Senator, I have fought for Oregon's middle class families. While I'm fighting for good-paying jobs and Oregon values, however, my opponent has partnered with the Koch Brothers to support an agenda that is designed by and for the best off at the expense of working Oregonians," Sen. Merkley said. "Wehby's and the Koch brothers' agenda is simple: more tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires, more tax breaks when corporations ship American jobs overseas, and gutting the Clean Air Act. Those are the wrong priorities for Oregon."

Sen. Merkley added, "It has been an honor to partner with Senator Wyden the last six years to fight for Oregon values. I'm running to continue that fight."
