Statement Regarding Department of Justice Briefing with US Attorney General Eric Holder on the Police Shooting of Michael Brown

Statement

Date: Aug. 22, 2014
Location: St. Louis, Missouri

"Good evening, we have just completed an extensive briefing with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

As this is an ongoing federal investigation, I cannot comment on specific evidence.

But I do want to thank President Obama and the Attorney General for responding to my call to expedite and expand the federal investigation of this police shooting.

They have responded with great strength and I appreciate that, and I know that the community appreciates it as well.

As I have said before, I continue to have serious concerns about the local criminal investigation.

But I have complete confidence in the federal team that is working this case.

I made a promise to Michael Brown's mother that we would focus every possible federal resource to bring justice to her family, and I intend to keep that promise."
