After weathering the storm with his constituents and spending the past two days touring throughout northern New Jersey, U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. condemned the comments of Rep. Steve King (R-IA) on federal disaster relief for New Jersey and other states affected by Superstorm Sandy:
"I've spent the last days touring neighborhoods and shelters and speaking with families, assuring them we will do everything we possibly can to help them try and put their lives back together after this devastating tragedy. Frankly, Tea Party extremists like Steve King who want to pass judgment, spread their false assumptions and kick people when they are at their lowest are the worst that we have to offer. I am grateful our governor doesn't share this same position. People are hurting and Steve King wants to turn his back on these very taxpayers when they need our assistance most. I will fight for each and every person in New Jersey impacted by these horrible events, and I condemn Steve King and those like him who would dare imply they won't be fighting right there with me."
