U.S. Congressman Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) today received the endorsement of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) for his reelection this November.
"Day in and day out, our firefighters and first responders put their lives in harm's way. As the men and women of our fire companies are unwavering in their efforts to keep our communities safe, I've remain steadfast in my support of those who wear the uniform and respond in the time of our greatest need," said LoBiondo, a member of the Congressional Fire Caucus. "It is with great honor that I accept the endorsement of the International Association of Fire Fighters and will continue to stand up for the resources they need and deserve."
"During your time in Congress, you have championed matters that are important to our nation's fire fighters, especially our members in South Jersey," said Harold A. Schaitberger, General President of the IAFF. "Your support of our issues and your hard work for your constituents is what sets you apart from other legislators. It is because of your record of accomplishment that we support your reelection and continued services to the State of New Jersey and the Nation."
The IAFF maintains headquarters in Washington, DC, and Ottawa, Ontario, representing more than 300,000 full-time professional fire fighters and paramedics in more than 3,100 affiliates. IAFF members protect more than 85 percent of the population in communities throughout the United States and Canada.
In their endorsement letter, IAFF specifically stated LoBiondo's strong support for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. Since 2001, 124 fire departments and first responder companies in South Jersey have shared more than $23 million in federal AFG funding.
"We are proud to stand behind Congressman LoBiondo in his reelection campaign because he has been so strong in supporting us and our fellow firefighters across South Jersey," said Atlantic City Firefighters Union Local 198 President Christopher Emmell. "His support of issues that are critical to safeguarding our communities and our colleagues has been outstanding for his entire career."
