Iowa food production: Iowa is number one in the nation in corn, soybean, hog and egg production. We do a great job producing food not only for Iowan's, but for people all over the world. I will continue to work hard to promote policies that keep Iowa agriculture moving forward.

Job Creation: Job creation should be our top priority in Iowa. We need to create a more business friendly environment. The Obama administration is threatening regulations and increasing taxes that discourage business owners from investing in this state. It is important we keep government out of the way of those who want to create jobs and growth in this state.

Renewable Energy: Iowa leads the nation in ethanol and biodiesel production and we need to ensure these business have a stable legislative and regulatory environment that will allow them to continue to be successful for years to come. Our state is also leading the way in the development of next generation cellulosic ethanol production with one plant in operation and two more under construction. Wind energy offers tremendous opportunities for our state. Iowa's wind energy industry currently employs 6,000 to 7,000 individuals. Over 25% of Iowa's energy is generated from wind energy. We also need to ensure Iowa Ethanol and Biodiesel producers are given the confidence their industries will grow for years to come.

Air, Soil and Water Quality: We need to ensure Iowa remains a national leader in agriculture and continue our leadership role in voluntary, science-based practices to improve our air, soil and water quality.

The Next Generation: It is an exciting time in agriculture and there are tremendous opportunities for the industry to continue to grow. New technologies will help farmers continue to improve efficiency and increase production. Our land-grant universities, community colleges, agricultural organizations and agriculture business partners will all be key in helping to develop these new technologies to keep Iowa agriculture moving forward.
