Nancy Hoyt for Congress

Statement

Date: Aug. 13, 2014

Our Founding Fathers declared "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by the their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness".

This is the heart of the American Dream. It is the foundation of our "Free Enterprise System". However, as time has passed, many people now expect Government to do what was formerly done by business and private industry. That is control every aspect of our lives from what should be our most private concern, Healthcare, to what information we should be told, and what values our children should be taught in school.

As Government has grown to take over our lives and the role of private industry, our families are losing our American Dream. To get back to our dreams, we must return to the principles that Our Founding Fathers gave us. We must downsize Government at all levels, and create the jobs that will drive our economy back to solid ground. This is the best possible protection that we can give our children.

So what's the solution?

The solution is to streamline government, office by office, department by department. Balance the budget by cutting out wasteful spending, and increasing the productivity of the workforce. We must enact laws and rules that guide the interaction between the Government, businesses, and citizens for the maximum economic efficiency. It's time for Government to return to supporting the free enterprise system instead of taking control of our businesses, property, and lives.

I, Nancy Hoyt, pledge to do my very best to represent my fellow citizens in Maryland Congressional District 4, and to uphold the principles upon which our great Nation was founded.

Why am I running for Congress?

I recognize that each person has issues and concerns. We share most of these. The economy is very poor. People are losing their jobs. Healthcare is a problem for some. Pensions have been lost. Companies are failing. The wars continue. Education is expensive.

We need concrete solutions to these and the other problems. I won't call them challenges, these are problems.

The person who can solve these problems should have management education and experience. The person who can solve healthcare problems must have clinical and administrative experience. This person must understand that the work is done by workers and not by managers in meetings. This person must understand how to create jobs and what are the needed resources to sustain these jobs. This person must understand that the best way to fix our problems is not to simply throw money at these problems. This person must understand that words and covert bureaucratic actions and promises will not solve our problems. I, Nancy Hoyt, am this person.

I have been fortunate to have a diverse professional background. I am not a career politician and I am ready to utilize my experience, education, and skills to work hard for the citizens in Maryland Congressional District 4, and all the citizens of the United States.

I, Nancy Hoyt, promise to work for you because:

Better Government leads to Better Business
Better Business leads to Better Job Creation
Better Job Creation leads to a Better Brighter Future
