This is a very important issue, but a very complicated one to resolve to the satisfaction of all parties involved. It will not be resolved in a short time. In last year's budget, Governor Lynch was going to cut the state contribution to zero, but the Republican-controlled legislature chose instead to only reduce a part of it. The NH Supreme Court has recently ruled that the state may stop subsidizing public employee pensions. Under current pension reform the cost to the towns went down, but they incurred some additional cost. In the long run it will save towns money.
