Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen voted for H.R. 4411, the Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Act of 2014, which she co-sponsored and would prevent the terrorist group Hezbollah from obtaining funds by sanctioning any financial institution which facilities the funding of Hezbollah operations, either directly or indirectly. Additionally, this bill would require that Congress be briefed annually on satellite, broadcast, and internet providers who knowingly provide support to the currently sanctioned, Hezbollah-run Al-Manar TV station.
Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
"We must ensure that money does not directly or indirectly fall into the hands of terrorist groups that pose a threat to our national security. Ensuring that banking institutions do not do business with those who would cause mayhem if given the opportunity must be one of our highest priorities. Additionally, knowing that money is fungible, we must be on high alert and guard against any dollar that could benefit Hezbollah through an affiliated organization."
