Declaration -National and Utah State Society Daughters of the American Revolution Month

Whereas, April 19, 2005, marks the 230th anniversary of the battle of Lexington and Concord which started the American Revolution and the beginning of America's struggle for independence;

Whereas, The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was established in 1890 to honor their noble ancestors who fought so bravely to bring freedom from oppression and establish the United States of America;

Whereas, The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a lineage society that promotes the cause of freedom, patriotism, education, historic preservation, and devotion to God, Home and Country;

Whereas, The Utah State Society Daughters of the American Revolution was organized in 1897 to promote the ideals of the National Society;

Whereas, The Utah State Society Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate their 108th birthday this year; and,

Whereas, The Utah State Society Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their 108th State Conference on April 29th and 30th, 2005;

Now, Therefore, I, Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., Governor of the State of Utah, do hereby declare April 2005, as

National Society and Utah State Society Daughters of the American Revolution Month
