House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 3393, the Student and Family Tax Simplification Act and H.R. 4935, the Child Tax Credit Improvement Act of 2014, both of which simplify the tax code for American families and students.
"Right now, too many families are worried about how they will plan for their futures -- and rising costs at home make that even more difficult. This week, House Republicans acted to make life easier for American families. I applaud Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) for her leadership in making higher education benefits permanent and more accessible for Americans under the Student and Family Tax Simplification Act. And thanks to the work of Rep. Lynn Jenkins, the Child Tax Credit Improvement Act of 2014 expands and updates existing tax credit for families, lowering the costs at home for Americans all across the country.
"By simplifying our existing tax code, we will provide Americans with the tools they need to support their families and plan for their futures. It's time to make life easier for the American people. And our solutions will do just that."
