The House Homeland Security Committee has announced the following hearings for next week.
WEDNESDAY, July 23 at 10:00 a.m.
Committee on Homeland Security
The Rising Terrorist Threat and the Unfulfilled 9/11 Recommendation
311 Cannon House Office Building
Invited Witnesses Include:
The Honorable Thomas H. Kean Jr., Co-Chair, Homeland Security Project, Bipartisan Policy Center and Former Chair, National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
The Honorable Jamie S. Gorelick, Former Commissioner, National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) on the hearing: "Ten years after the 9/11 Commission provided its report on how to prevent terrorist attacks on United States soil, the threat from al Qaeda, its affiliates and those inspired by them at home and abroad is growing. Furthermore, some of the Commission's recommendations remain unfilled including streamlining Congressional jurisdiction over the Department of Homeland Security. Next week, the former members of the Commission will release a new report reflecting on the evolving threat to the homeland, including cyber attacks, and present recommendations on how to further enhance the security of the United States. I look forward to discussing the findings of the report with former 9/11 Commission Chair Tom Kean and Former Commissioner Jamie Gorelick."
