Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the following statement on the Obama administration's decision to extend nuclear talks with Iran until late November:
"The Obama Administration's decision to extend conciliatory talks with Iran is a colossal mistake. If the past six months of "negotiations" have taught us anything, it's that Iranian leaders have zero intention of dismantling their nuclear program. This extension, like the rest of this foolhardy process, is another free giveaway to an Iranian regime that continues to march towards a disastrous nuclear weapons capability, all the while joyfully reaping the benefits of sanctions relief and relaxed pressure from the United States while giving up nothing substantive in return. The only responsible course of action for the American people and the world community is to learn from past mistakes and reinstate the aggressive, crippling economic sanctions that were actually working to weaken Iran's leadership and reduce their capability to develop nuclear weapons technology."
