Issue Position

Transportation is a critical issue for the developing suburban communities in Scott County. Scott County Commission Board in recent months has proposed a half-cent tax increase to transportation funding. I believe we need to keep spending for roads and public transportation like Smart Link Transit, Shakopee Transit and Laker Lines , but I do not see a tax-increase as a solution to all problems including Transportation. I believe we need support alternative plans like merging Smartlink Transit with Minnesota Valley Transit. I would support allowing counties like Scott County to establish transportation reserves for the purpose of fixing roads and expanding public transportation.
