Bold Reforms for North Carolina
Mar. 25, 2014
When Bob Rucho and his colleagues won a majority in the State Senate, they inherited a $2.5 billion dollar deficit, double‐digit unemployment rate, thousands of burdensome regulations on businesses, a broken public education system and the highest taxes in the Southeast. In just three years, Rucho has helped lead the fight to cut taxes to make North Carolina more competitive, eliminate regulations that hurt businesses, reformpublic schools and turn a budget deficit into a surplus.
And the reforms are working:
Bob Rucho's work in the Senate has helped reduce North Carolina's unemployment rate from over 10 percent in 2011 to 6.7 percent today, and added more than 190,000 new jobs to the state's economy in just three years. North Carolina's business tax climate has skyrocketed from 44th worst to 17th best in the nation, according to the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.
