Peter King announced yesterday that he will be going to New Hampshire this weekend for a GOP fundraiser, which will be his sixth trip to the state since last August.
But his opponent, Patricia Maher, is not pleased with the lack of attention he's given the district in light of the amount of trips he's made to New Hampshire, a notable early presidential primary state.
"For a member of Congress to have the audacity to boast on Facebook about how many trips he's taken to New Hampshire, no less take all these trips in the first place in hopes of a long-shot presidential bid, shows that he is out of touch with the people of his district," stated Maher.
She continued, "He does not represent the interests of our district. He votes against senior citizens in Congress, he bragged about giving money to a Republican candidate for Senate in Arkansas who voted against Hurricane Sandy relief, and he has never met a job-outsourcing free trade agreement that he didn't like".
Maher noted that the district was redrawn after the 2010 census to include much of the South Shore of Suffolk County. "King can't even make the effort as a Congressman to make inroads with his new constituents and vote on behalf of their interests; his real ambition is to be President, not Congressman" she concluded.
