Issue Position: Positions on issues

Issue Position

I am the only candidate that will not increase your taxes every other candidate has indicated they would do that for you. As the only candidate who has ran previously for this job (2003), I learned then as now people simply do not want tax increases, but rather have the government use the money for its intended purpose, such as fuel taxes need to be used and dedicated for the roads and infrastructure. The main problem with taxes in my nearly 50 years is that once a tax is implemented it rarely goes away, which then takes away from families on a permanent basis. The roads clearly need improvement not just the busy roads but all roads that need attention should receive it. We need to look at possibly the german road model and other road models that have maybe more upfront cost but sustains our needs for longer periods of time. Some European countries add in effect rubber additive allowing for greater elasticity, we should be willing to try new proven ideas as if we keep doing the same thing and hope for different results we will be disappointed.

Lets stop with all the laws and red tape on business and in that vein I support a part time legislation, like 40 other states have, that would then tweek the term limit piece in conjuction with part time but to prove just like in 2003 when I ran I will directly put half the net pay right back into the district, whether it be eagle scout projects, church food drives, helping families in the district, simply that way at least you would see some direct good produced from me being elected. And leading by example to let other representatives know what is important and that is you, the people are the reason for the position, to be represented in an honest, integrity driven manner.

While the state is in the process of providing millions to Detroit, I do not support that concept, Detroit is bankrupt for a reason and it is directly related to the people Detroit elected to run that city and apparently had challenges in running the city, if you look through the payroll I am not surprised by the bankruptcy filing it seems to be a matter of when vs if it was going to happen. Currently you have many 100,000 plus salary and benefit people still working at this bankrupt entity and just recently they approved a raise for miss wiley to go from 100,000 to 140,500 that seems reckless to fill in for another lady miss howze. I would suggest leading by example and think the top wage earners at the very least could have a freeze of the wage while this bankruptcy is being sorted out regardless of the duty or service they are providing.

We have many other issues in this district that need help, farmers need help with reducing the red tape on them so they can do what they do is farm, placing more and more rules on farmers only drives up costs and I like to think of farmers as original environmentalists, and that thought was shared with me by brett roberts his logic is spot on and I also agree with him on that point. Going through the farm bureau interview process has further widened my understanding and moved from simply friend of the farmer to informed friend of the farmer.

Hopefully their will be more spirited debate and positions taken by all the candidates to share with you, but one position I can not agree with all the other candidates is to raise your taxes. You deserve justification where your money is going now and the how and why, I support complete transparency with the government, there should be no secrets and if elected that is what you will get with me. No gamesmanship we will not always agree, but those who know me know that I try to do the right thing and help others that are less fortunate.
