Hagel Statement on the Passing of Pope John Paul II

U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) released the following statement today following the passing of Pope John Paul II:

"Pope John Paul II left this world as he lived his life: with the grace of God. He was a beacon of moral clarity at a time when our world desperately needed one. When the history of the last 25 years is written, Pope John Paul II will stand as a giant of our time. He leaves us ennobled through his faith, wisdom, and compassion.

Lilibet and I join countless Nebraskans, Americans, and people around the world today who hold Pope John Paul II with reverence in their prayers and warmth in their hearts."
