Our district faces a severe lack of jobs. Since 2006, Wayne County High School census has dropped from 400 students to 300. The reason? Families are relocating because jobs are leaving the county. Unable to find work at home, our graduates are forced to leave our district. College and Technology school graduates are equally frustrated with the lack of local opportunity. District 71 is blessed with men and women who work hard and who are honest and responsible. A completed Highway 64 four-lane is soon to be a tremendous improvement for travel and transportation. The Tennessee River is in our backyard and is accessible for travel and transportation.
