Wyden Applauds Passage of Workforce Investment Reauthorization

Statement

Date: June 25, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden issued the following statement on Senate passage of the legislation reauthorizing the federal workforce investments:

"Today's 95-3 vote on passage of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) shows that Congress can work together in a bipartisan way to get big ticket items done. Federal workforce investments can open the door to the middle class for millions of American workers and strengthen the economy. This long-overdue reauthorization will help Americans get back to work, back to school, and increase their skills. I'm especially grateful to Senators Harkin, Murray, Alexander, and Isakson for the youth provisions, including YouthBuild and Job Corps, which offer combined academic and skills training to young people who have been particularly hard hit in recent years."
