Fjeld Handily Wins Nomination

Statement

Democratic Congressional candidate Laura Fjeld handily won the nomination today. Laura received more votes than any candidate in the 6th district, Democrat or Republican.

Laura said, "As a mother who has raised a family in the real world, I have watched with dismay as partisan politics in Washington have hurt families here in North Carolina. Congress is no longer listening to the people back home, and it's time to get new people elected who aren't career politicians.

We need elected officials who will address our real problems, focus on creating jobs, making education a priority, and cutting wasteful spending. We need to put people ahead of the partisan politics, which is causing gridlock in Washington. I will be a fighter for the middle class. The establishment and big money special interests won't be supporting me because they want someone they can control. I'm going to Washington to represent the people of the district, not the special interests.

We will have to wait a couple of months to find out who my opponent is. The two men still running represent the worst type of politics that we see way too often in Washington. They represent politics as usual and will do and say anything for a vote. The differences couldn't be clearer, they are running to help their special interest cronies, and I am running to fight for the middle class.

It's time to make Washington work for the people, and that's why I am running for Congress. I will cut through the extreme rhetoric and bring common sense problem solving to Washington."
