Issue Position: Create and Protect Jobs and Light a Fire Under the Economy

Issue Position

South Jersey has the highest jobless rate in the state, averaging around 13%. So many good folks have been in unemployed for so long that many aren't even counted as being unemployed - and have just given up hope of finding work. When the Atlantic Club closed its doors for good in January 2014 -- putting 1,600 of our neighbors out of work -- they were told to move to another state to find work. Rampant unemployment in our hometowns for years on end with no solutions is unacceptable. In South Jersey the recession hasn't ended. It's not our neighbors who have failed, it's our leadership in Washington. We need real projects and real ideas that produce solutions and jobs. South Jersey needs an advocate for jobs and a stronger economy -- someone who will actually reach across the aisle and achieve bipartisan results instead of just talking about them.

We need a Representative who will lead the effort to rebrand and diversify our regional economy.

Fight in Congress to ensure that South Jersey and the FAA Technical Center is re-established as the leader on all aviation research projects by ensuring that government contracts involving aviation research must be performed at or near established FAA research centers.

Recruit industries and manufacturers that we have lost overseas back to South Jersey by establishing tax incentives for building factories and training and hiring South Jersey workers.

Close tax loopholes for companies that lay off millions of hardworking Americans and outsource our jobs to China and India.

Invest in federal job training programs with proven records of success, so we can create good-paying jobs with benefits in South Jersey and improve our quality of life.
