Remarks With Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal, Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed, and Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh Before Their Meeting

Statement

Date: June 26, 2014
Location: Paris, France
Issues: Foreign Affairs

SECRETARY KERRY: I'm particularly grateful to our allies and partners from the Middle East, the Gulf states, particularly Jordan, coming here to talk about the number of critical issues right now. Iraq, obviously, is one of the predominant ones; the move of ISIL concerns every single country here. But in addition to that, we have an ongoing crisis in Syria where ISIL is also involved, and we have the challenge of the Iranian nuclear program, coupled with a number of other Middle East -- the peace process and so forth.

So we have a lot to talk about. We couldn't have stronger partners in this effort, and I'm very grateful to everybody for taking the time to come.

Saud, do you want to say anything?

FOREIGN MINISTER AL-FAISAL: Well, we're all glad to be here. And all these issues the Secretary mentioned are of immense importance for our country. And I think with the cooperation between these countries we can affect, hopefully, the situation in a better way than it has been.

SECRETARY KERRY: Thank you, sir. Thank you very much. Thank you.
