Issue Position

Since legislation affects all of us, I looked at how we could be directly involved in the legislative process...the process of government by which bills are considered and laws are enacted. The Safeguard concept is mainly designed to get more accurate information regarding District 3 constituents. The Safeguard Representative Concept is also designed to have the voters involvement within this district to participate no matter what your party affiliation is. It is open to everyone who is a current active registered voter.

The long term solution that I will introduce as legislation is to completely overhaul campaign finance reform with public campaign funding. This will allow candidates to be voted by their merits and not by the amount of money that has to be raised including Super PAC Donors. I will also be introducing legislation as to how legislation is written by tighter oversight on lobbying efforts, special interests and their direct influences on the legislative process. Specifically, how deals are negotiated with the lobbying efforts and the members of congress.

If this constituent experiment does gain momentum by the voters in this district, this may influence how we can improve how our representatives represent us without all of the competing interests.
