" The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground. " Thomas Jefferson

Here is a brief rundown on what I believe in. There is the government of a country and then there are the people who live in the country. Do not confuse the two. Society brings us far more good than bad. Government is the opposite force to that good. Some government seems to be necessary, but more is not better. Unforturately, government grows until the taxes and regulations imposed on society finally destroys it. Unrest always follows and the outcome of that unrest is never certain. People when free to choose, seem to think that the family unit is the basic building block of society. I believe the family needs to be empowered to make almost all decisions. The next layer of society is the Churches and other charitable organizations. These act as our moral compass and should be where we deal with the issues of poverty. Charity and compassion is the best way to deal with poverty. Taxation and bureaucrats have not worked. Government has the role of defending the nation, not attacking other nations, to regulate the currency and to insure the rules are fair and enforced equally on all. Fairness demands that power be spread widely. A saying that comes from both ancient China and Rome is the more laws, the more corrupt. This is because the laws always favor those that have. What is important to understand is legal does not equal moral.
