Wolf On Speaker's Decision To Create Member 'Working Group' To Focus On Border Crisis

Statement

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) today released the following statement regarding Speaker Boehner's appointment of a congressional "working group" on the national security and humanitarian crisis on the nation's southern border:

"This House "working group' is a positive step towards developing legislative solutions to deal with this crisis. The strain that is being put on our Border Patrol agents, law enforcement and others responsible for securing our southern border is tremendous. Congress needs to do everything it can to secure our borders, protect national security and prevent the exploitation of children. It also needs to preclude local jurisdictions, school systems and social service agencies from being overwhelmed by the influx of all these children. I hope this working group will move quickly to determine what legislative and oversight tools the Congress can use to compel the administration to secure the border and prevent the abuse of children."
