Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a total of $601,317 to the Mason City Municipal Airport for infrastructure improvements. Harkin is a senior member of the panel that funds transportation initiatives.
"Continuing to make improvements to the Mason City Municipal Airport is important to the economic health of this community because the availability of a nearby airport is a valuable asset that can help draw new businesses to the area," said Harkin. "I am pleased that Mason City has received funds to improve the airport and I look forward to the benefits it will bring to the local economy."
Specifically, these funds will be used to rehabilitate runway lighting at the airport.
