Date: Jan. 1, 2014

During his time in office, President Obama has created a multitude of unnecessary regulations that have stifled our economy and eliminated American jobs. I support legislation that would give Congress the ability to review, correct, and vote down any proposed and existing rules as part of its oversight responsibilities.

Knowing the impact red tape has on jobs in Georgia and throughout the United States, I have been actively engaged in regulatory reform during my first term in Congress. I co-founded the Freshman Regulatory Reform Working Group to encourage a more flexible regulatory system that promotes responsible safety regulations while encouraging innovation among the private sector. I also introduced the Sunshine for Regulatory Decrees and Settlements Act (H.R. 1493), which addresses the secretive "sue and settle" process through which federal bureaucrats and special interest groups write job-killing regulation without providing opportunity for public input.
