Representative Tim Walz released the following statement in recognition of the seventieth anniversary of D-Day:

"Seventy years ago today, thousands of brave souls stormed the beaches of Normandy, and thousands more descended from planes above, in what would be the largest sea and airborne invasion in history. Their mission, according to General Eisenhower, was to bring "nothing less than full victory' over Nazi forces.

"These men were our neighbors and friends, our fathers and grandfathers. They bore the battle so that we could be free. Many would never return home, but their legacy lives on in all of us. Let us never forget their noble efforts. We are a product of their sacrifice."
