Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) released the following statement after an audit released by the VA showed that patients in Louisiana have waited more than 50 days to get a primary-care appointment at the Veterans Affairs clinic in New Orleans, more than 30 days in Alexandria, and more than 40 days in Shreveport. The VA flagged all three VA facilities for further review.
Dr. Cassidy released the following statement:
"This data further confirms that the VA is broken and mismanaged. Secretary Shinseki's resignation and this audit does nothing for the veterans in Louisiana who have been waiting nearly two months to receive care. As doctor, I know the importance of having a patient-centered healthcare system and I will continue pushing for reforms that work for, not against our veterans."
