West Virginia Honor Flight veterans arrived in Washington, D.C., early Wednesday morning and were met upon their arrival at the Nation's Capitol by U.S. Rep. Nick J. Rahall (D-WV), who expressed his gratitude and thanks to the veterans for their dedication, service, and commitment to our Nation.

"To all of our military service members and our veterans, I offer my heartfelt appreciation for your sacrifice and service. Put simply, our Nation can never thank you enough for all that we owe you. Through your service and sacrifice, you have earned the respect, the admiration and thanks of a grateful nation, and I will always strive that this nation repays that solemn debt," said Rahall, a senior member of the House Military Veterans Caucus.

Rahall met with thirty veterans, most of whom are his constituents from southern West Virginia and who served in the Armed Services during World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Rahall also welcomed the group's guardians, Junior ROTC members, medics, and Denver Foundation staff who accompanied the group for this trip.

The Honor Flight included WW II veteran, 91-year old Luther G. "Wick" Wickline from Lewisburg, the group's eldest, and for the first time, two women veterans -- Helen "Connie" Wheby, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, and Vanda Jane Butcher of Belle, who served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam.

This is the fourth W.Va. Honor Flight Congressman Rahall has welcomed to the Nation's Capitol.
