Heinrich Welcomes New Mexico Honor Flight Veterans To World War II Memorial

Today, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) welcomed World War II veterans with the first ever Northern New Mexico Honor Flight to the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. The group of veterans was sponsored by the Honor Flight Network, a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices.

"Today, marks the first time the Northern New Mexico Honor Flight brought World War II veterans to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. These men exemplify the highest ideals of service. It was an honor to welcome them to D.C., listen to their stories, and pay tribute to the sacrifices they made for our country," said Sen. Heinrich.

The Honor Flight Network transports former service members to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their World War II Memorial. Top priority is given to the senior veterans - World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. The Williamson Foundation, a member of the Honor Flight Network, helps raise funds for the Northern New Mexico Honor Flight.
